Project Details - Choices for Youth Services Centre

The Choices for Youth Services Centre is a two-storey structure located at the northeast corner of Carter’s Hill Place and Livingstone Street, in downtown St. John’s. The $1.9 million facility was constructed to provide shelter and community services for young people between the ages of 16-29.

The project was carried out in association with Ron Fougere and Associates Ltd. as the prime consultant, and fga was responsible for all structural and site design. The site was previously designated has an area contaminated with spilled hydrocarbon liquids. During Phase 1 of the project our firm was responsible for the testing of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) and site clean up. From a civil engineering aspect, our firm was responsible for the site development stage that involved site layout, site drainage, water and sewer design, and parking lot design. The structural portion of the project involved a design utilizing various building materials such as reinforced concrete, steel, wood and masonry.
