Project Details - PF Collins - Site Development
The PF Collins project is located on the west side of the Outer Ring Road, in the White Hills Industrial Park, St. John’s. This is an environmentally sensitive site since it is bordered on the north and west by a unique marshland ecological system, it was a former brown field site for the American military base at Fort Pepperell, and it was a concrete plant site with old foundations and concrete waste. Our firm is responsible for the Environmental and Civil aspects of the project.
As of September 2005, the development was in the construction stage, and is broken down into three phases: the first was for the removal of the unsuitable material and restoration of the site (completed December, 2004), the second is for initial site and building construction, and the third is to expand the usable lay-down area in the future. From a development prospective the site offers challenges since there are currently no water, sanitary, or storm sewer services in the area. The waterline for firefighting and domestic use will have to be extended to the site, the sanitary will be treated on site prior to release to the ground water, and the storm water will be used to recharge the existing marshland to preserve its ecology.
